MagnaCon will be hosting a silent auction during the convention. We've had a number of generous donors step up to support our cause and below you will find a list of auction items.
How to Donate Items:
If you are interested in participating in the auction as a donor, there is still time to provide items. We're accepting games, game accessories and other items that will appeal to gamers. That's right... that means "anything geeky." All donors are asked to please contact us at magnacondenver@gmail.com or call Veronica at 303-927-6686 to discuss donation details. (In general, items requiring shipping should be sent with enough time to reach Denver by January 12th, 2010. Arrangements for local drop offs/pickups should be made by January 12th, 2010 for handoffs by convention open on January 15th.) All donations immediately become property of the Whittier Neighborhood Association/MagnaCon, unless other arrangements are made with the donor.
How to Bid on Items:
In order to bid on items, you must attend MagnaCon either as a guest or as a volunteer and place your starting bid at the auction tables. Note: The auction will end at 4:00PM on Sunday afternoon. Auction winners are not required to be present at auction end. Arrangements can be made, in advance, for items to be shipped if the winner bidder resides outside of the Denver area. However, the bidder will be responsible for the additional shipping costs (via USPS priority mail). Winners residing within the Denver area must make arrangements to pick up their items after the convention if they are not present at auction end. All payments must be made in person by check (payable to Whittier Neighborhood Association) or cash at the convention, or by Pay Pal after the convention before items are released to the winning bidder. Checks will not be accepted for purchases totaling more than $50. Returned checks will incur a fee of $50 plus amount due. Some items will require a blind reserve, which will always be noted. Any items not meeting the reserve will be held by the Whittier Neighborhood Association/MagnaCon for use in future fundraising activities when they can earn a better return.
NOTE: Once you have opened a bid on an item at the convention, you may increase your bid by phone if you are not able to attend the convention in order to do so in person. Details will be provided at the auction table during the convention.
Raffle:
Raffle tickets will be on sale starting January 5th and will be available to the general public with no requirement to attend the convention. Due to the large number of raffle prizes, we cannot list those items here. However, in general the raffle will include many smaller board and card games and other items of interest to gamers, including passes to MagnaCon 2011.
Raffle tickets will be sold for $1 each, 6 for $5 and 13 for $10. Winners will be contacted by phone and/or email to claim prizes if not in attendance at the time of the raffle, which will happen at various times throughout the convention with the largest portion of the raffle occurring on Sunday afternoon. (But, prizes will be given out all weekend! So, don't miss out... get in early!)
Guests and volunteers who carpool, take public transit, walk or bike to the event will get a bonus raffle ticket for each day of attendance. (Limit of one free ticket redemption for transportation per day per person.)
Guests and volunteers who bring at least 3 non-perishable food items to be donated to the Food Bank of the Rockies will receive two free raffle tickets. (Limit of one free ticket redemption for food items per day per person.)
